Go-To-High School, Go-To-College
From 1919 until 2003, this program has motivated many young people into pursing high school diplomas and college degrees. Since its inception Beta Delta has taken the initiative to fulfill the mission of this program.
Every Spring the brothers host the "Stomp or Be Stomped" High School Step Show Competition. High School step teams from across the state to showcase their various talents and techniques.
Through our National Program Go-To-High, Go-To-College, we designed a step show competition to reach high school student to show the diversity and social environment that college life has to offer.
Project Alpha
Based on the alarming rates of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and teen pregnancy, Project Alpha is one of the most important national programs. Beta Delta seeks to educate youths on responsible sexual behavior as well as dispel many of the common misnomers concerning sex.
On September 15, 2008, the brothers of Beta Delta, in conjunction with Brooks Health Center, hosted a HIV/AIDS screening to the students of South Carolina State University.
A Voteless People Is A Hopeless People
In the ever-changing political landscape of the United States and specifically South Carolina, the lack vote has become increasingly important. With the 2008 elections coming up, it will be a moment for African-Americans and other minorities to come out in masses, vote and finally be a serious force to deal with, it was crucial for all concerned citizens to do their part and increase the awareness of those around them in their respective areas of the seriousness of these matter.
This year the brothers of Beta Delta will hosted a Voter's Education Forum on September 17, 2008. The goal of this forum was to not only register voters but to educate registered voters on the views and opinions of the presidental candiates. We brought in two politicial guest speakers. On the Democratic side, we invited Rep. Bakari Sellers and on the Republican side we Mr. Glenn McCall.
